Mortar Board Application Process

1. Mortar Board membership applications for the 2007-2008 academic year will be mailed to eligible students at the end of January 2007.

2. Applications are due February 19, 2007 by 4:30pm.

3. Newly selected members will be "tapped" for membership in class hours during the week of April 9-13, 2007.

Membership Eligibility

The criteria for admission to Mortar Board at SDSU are:

  • Full time student at SDSU with senior standing for the fall semester and an SDSU GPA and an overall grade point average of 3.2 or better. (No exceptions)
  • Participation and excellence in the following three areas: scholarship, leadership, and service. (Only those students who have excelled in all three areas will be considered).
  • Obligations of Membership

Membership in Mortar Board means active involvement and a commitment to serve the university and the community.

Membership obligations include:

  • One time national fee of $60.
  • Local dues are $10.00.
  • Monthly meetings.
  • Serving on a committee.
  • And participating in membership selection, tapping, and initiation.
